Like all charter schools, the Lucius H. Holsey Academy of Excellence is public and tuition free. This educational option is available to all families in Ben Hill County.  We are dedicated to providing life-changing educational experiences to our students by operating a successful charter school designed to produce the strongest academic outcomes.  This tremendous effort requires the support of many like-minded individuals who understand the value of a quality education, and desire to see that all children have access to exceptional learning experiences.

                 The
   will operate on three
      basic principles:

CHOICE   We plan to give families an opportunity to pick the best environment most suitable for their child's educational well-being.  Our teachers will create and work at directly at shaping the best working and learning environment for their students and themselves.  We will serve the specific needs of the students in our community.

ACCOUNTABILITY  The Academy of Excellence will be judged on how well it meets the student achievement goals established by our charter contract.  We will show that we can perform according to the operational standards as defined by the Georgia Department of Education.

FREEDOM  While Charter Schools must adhere to the same major laws and regulations as all other public schools, they are freed from the red tape that often diverts a school's energy and resources away from educational excellence.  Instead of jumping through procedural hoops, Charter School leaders can focus on setting and reaching high academy standards for their student

Seven (7) NEW Charter Schools were approved during the Georgia Charter Schools Commissions December 14th Meeting.  Unfortunately, the Lucius H. Holsey Academy of Excellence was not included in this approval round.  Click here for the official press release.
